Avitale MELATONIN DEPOT 1,9 MG enthält 1,9 mg Melatonin pro Tablette. Das Präparat gibt den Wirkstoff Melatonin zeitlich versetzt während der gesamten Nachtruhe ab. Dies unterstützt den Organismus beim schnelleren Einschlafen.

Ausreichender und erholsamer Schlaf ist für die körperliche und mentale Regeneration enorm wichtig. Oft jedoch können Schwierigkeiten beim Einschlafen oder Durchschlafen den gewohnten Schlafrhythmus stören.

Melatonin ist ein Neurohormon, welches vom Körper mit einsetzender Dunkelheit verstärkt hergestellt und in höherer Menge ins Blut abgegeben wird. Es fördert so das Einschlafen. Bei Tageslicht lässt die Melatonin-Ausschüttung wieder nach und der Mensch erwacht. Daher wird Melatonin oft auch als „Schlafhormon“ bezeichnet, denn seine Aktivität steuert einen gesunden Schlafrhythmus und regelt sozusagen die „innere Uhr“.

In der Europäischen Union sind derzeitig die folgenden, gesundheitsbezogenen Aussagen zu Melatonin als sogenannte Health Claims zugelassen:
