Avitale Selen 200 Tabletten zur Nahrungsergänzung sind ein Monopräparat zur gezielten Selenversorgung.

Der menschliche Organismus ist auf Selen angewiesen, es muss daher regelmäßig mit der Nahrung durch selenhaltige Lebensmittel aufgenommen werden.

Das Spurenelement findet sich sowohl in tierischen als auch in pflanzlichen Nahrungsmitteln. Der Selengehalt in tierischen Lebensmitteln wird durch das Futter und selenangereicherte Futterzusätze beeinflusst. Fisch, Fleisch, Eier und Innereien sind selenreich. Der Selengehalt in pflanzlichen Lebensmitteln ist abhängig von der Selenmenge in den jeweiligen Böden. Dieser ist je nach Region sehr unterschiedlich. Die Böden Deutschlands sind selenarm, demzufolge ist auch der Selengehalt pflanzlicher Nahrungsmittel, wie Getreide oder Gemüse eher gering. Aus diesem Grund sollten Veganer und Vegetarier auf eine ausreichende Selenzufuhr achten, um die empfohlenen Mengen zu erreichen.

Funktionen von Selen im Körper

Selen ist ein lebenswichtiges, essentielles Spurenelement und an vielen Stoffwechselprozessen im menschlichen Organismus beteiligt.

Es wirkt antioxidativ und schützt die Zellen vor oxidativem Stress und freien Radikalen. Weiterhin unterstützt es eine gesunde Funktion der Schilddrüse sowie die normale Funktion des Immunsystems. Selen ist hilfreich zur Erhaltung normaler Haare und Nägel. Bei Männern trägt Selen zu einer normalen Spermabildung bei.
